Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri

Byline Festival is proud to present a screening of one of 2018’s most critically-acclaimed films, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, followed by a Q&A with the film’s Director of Photography, Ben Davis.

The winner of two Oscars, four Golden Globes and five BAFTAS, the film tells the story of grieving mother Mildred Hayes (played by Frances McDormand) as she seeks justice for her raped and murdered daughter. Tensions rise in the town as Hayes takes an usual route in an attempt to force Police Chief Willoughby (played by Woody Harrelson) to find her daughter’s killer. Race, justice and a smorgasbord of other themes are explored in this drama that refuses to sit within any sort of simple moral framework; many elements of its storyline are intensely relevant to the increasingly confusing world in 2018.

Director of Photography Ben Davis was widely applauded for his success in balancing the film ‘between humour and horror, mayhem and melancholia’. Join us for a Q&A after the film.
