Making a Drama Out of A Crisis: Writing Film and TV Scripts Based on True Storie

Ellin Stain teaches screenwriting in the MA Scriptwriting program at Goldsmiths, has worked in development for production companies including Miramax and Zoetrope, and has written about movies for publications including The Times, The New York Times, Slate, and the Byline Times.

From The Crown to The Post to Bohemian Rhapsody to When They See Us, the “based on real events” script has never been more in demand. We will explore techniques for representing the “truth” of a true story while at the same time creating compelling drama.

This workshop is for anyone who is currently writing a film, television, or radio script based on real events, or anyone who is thinking about it.
